WBMC Signs Lease

LEASE SIGNED! After over 10 years and several false starts, the Wide Bay Motor Complex finally has a home, signing a lease with the Fraser Coast Regional Council last week.

Earlier this month, WBMC President Ben Collingwood and Secretary Scott Rodgers had the pleasure of signing the long term lease over 306 hectares of land on the Maryborough-Cooloola road.  This thirty year lease has now been registered, and represents the culmination of many years of hard work by a huge number of people.

"This is the beginning of an even harder journey in securing the investment that will lead to the fully built facility, but now the project has an official home, somewhere we can physically stand and say with confidence, this is where it is going", said Mr Collingwood.

To the men who believed in the vision but are no longer with us - former Maryborough Councillor John Dautel and Gary Miocevich of Perth Motorplex fame, today, we remember your words of support and belief this is an achievable goal for our region. Without John securing us funds to bring Gary over from Perth, Wide Bay Motor Complex would be nothing but a distant dream on a scrap of notepaper.

To everyone involved in the earlier committees, our thanks for being there and taking it forward.

Current and past councillors, Sue Brooks, Phil Truscott, James Hansen, Paul Truscott, Daniel Sanderson, Darren Everard, Denis Chapman, Rolf Light, Darren Everard, Stuart Taylor, and George Seymour, thanks for believing in us also. We would also like to acknowledge Fraser Coast Mayor Chris Loft and state MP Bruce Saunders who have both been very vocal supporters. Thanks for giving us the confidence to continue!

As for our current committee, this team continues to get stronger and that is what us going to deliver a big result.

And to our loyal Members, Foundation Members and Business Foundation Members, you are what makes us tick and without your support, we would not be where we are today!

Bring on the next few years!!!
