2017 Annual General Meeting

Results of the 2017 Annual General Meeting

Another well attended Annual General Meeting is now done and dusted.

It was great to have Wide Bay Federal MP Mr Llew O'Brien in attendance to chair the meeting for us on the night.

In a development that should come as no surprise to anyone, long time President Ben Collingwood was re-elected unopposed to the Presidency once more. The existing Secretary Scott Rodgers and Treasurer Grant Maw were also re-elected unopposed. The WBMC has a new vice-President in Brad Hurford, who takes over from Tony Downs in the role (Tony will however remain on the management committee). Daniel Lidster joined the committee, and most of the other committee members from last year will continue in their roles.

The President spoke at length about our Business Foundation Members and thanked them for their support. Without the support and sponsorship of these businesses, there would be no WBMC. The President also thanked the management committee for their hard work over the past 12 months, and promised another year of hard work ahead.

Mr O'Brien spoke at the meeting about his 110% support for the project and the benefits it will bring to the community, pledging once again to throw whatever resources he could towards assisting us with overcoming the considerable obstacles and mountains of red tape that we have had put in our way. We've got a busy time ahead delivering over a quarter of a million dollars in grant funded projects as part of stage one and then the huge task of ensuring we get the broader project 'Shovel ready' quickly to ensure we can pursue big picture funding.

All in all, there was a great feeling in the room on the night and the committee is incredibly pleased with the level of support shown for the project not only by Mr O'Brien but also member for Maryborough Mr Bruce Saunders and many of the Fraser Coast Councillors. We've got a bit of work ahead of us to convince the council bureaucrats we're a project worthy of their attention but with determination and persistence, this can still be achieved.

Here's to an amazing year!
